About the Journal

Communis Biologica is a quarterly peer reviewed journal in biological science. It invites noble manuscripts of all forms including general research articles, short communications, review articles, scientific correspondences, editorials, research policies, research accounts, databases and book reviews. The manuscript should be well organised according to the format of the journal; for reference style authors are free to choose one of the reference format from MLA, APA, Chicago, Havard and Vancouver as per convenience but reference style must be uniform in  the reference section. All the manuscript should be submitted online. After initial scrutiny by editorial board, reviewer will be assigned by editor. Manuscript found out of scope or unsuitable will be returned to the authors within one week. The other submissions will be reviewed and authors will be informed for acceptance, revision or rejection with reviewers’ comments.  The rejected papers are allowed for resubmission after appropriate modifications in the manuscripts by authors. Authors will be responsible for the content of manuscript including plagiarism, copyright violation, etc. The photographs, illustrations, graphs and other materials to be reproduced from other publications/websites must be properly credited. If requires author/authors must be take written permission/e-mail from copyright holder to avoid legal conflicts. The content of all the manuscript published in Communis Biologica are deemed to be reflect the authors view and not the view of journal or editors. Any legal dispute will be resolve in Dehradun city court/tribunal.

The manuscript on anthropological studies, clinical trials/experiments, experiments on animals, etc. should be according to the guidelines of the government and ethical standards of the respective counties. It is advisable to attach such declaration with manuscript while submission.   

Supplementary research material

Long tables or meta-data may be submitted as supplementary research material and it will be published as supplementary research material (if required).

Conflict of interest

Authors must declare conflict of interest while submitting the manuscript.

Classification of manuscripts

Research articles are the manuscripts which reports major research findings based on the original work of the author/authors. It includes abstract, keywords, introduction/background, objectives, findings, subheadings as required, discussion, acknowledgements and references; not exceeding 12 typesets pages including figures and tables. 

 

Review articles should include abstract, keywords, introduction/background, appropriate subheading and references; not exceeding 20 pages typeset pages including figures and tables.

 

Database papers include abstract, background/introduction, aim/objectives, targeted researchers, methodology, subheadings, about software and hosting, analysis of the data, conclusions, references, etc.

 

Short communication is prepared without abstract, keywords and subheadings on major research findings; not exceeding 2 typeset pages.

Scientific correspondence  is prepared in form of letters on broad interest of research communities; not exceeding 1 typeset page.

 

Research accounts are personal view/experience of author/authors; not exceeding 3 typeset pages.

 

Research news includes scientific finding, activities, events and any recent development of broad interest to academicians; not exceeding 2 typeset pages.

 

Meeting reports are technical contents of workshops, symposium, conferences, etc. Usually, it includes an introduction, technical aspects and summary of the sessions/lectures and major gain; not exceeding 4 typeset pages.

 

Book reviews must include about the book contains name of the book, author(s), publisher, total pages, price, summary of the content, relevance to the subject, targeted readers, etc.; not exceeding 2 typeset pages. 


Preparation of manuscript

Manuscripts should be typed in “Bookman Old Style” font and 12 in size and double-spaced. All the pages should be numbered in the bottom of the pages, starting from title page to last page including table, figures, etc. The manuscript should be arranged as follows: title, authors name with affiliations and address of corresponding authors with e-mail, abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgement, references, table(s), graphs and figures. Tables, graphs and figures must be labelled. The title should be brief and relevant to the content of the manuscript; abstract should be concise in between 80 to 200 words; number of keywords should be in between three to seven and separated by ‘comma’ (“,”); tables and figures labelled and arranged in sequence.

Acknowledgements should be less than 50 words. 

Citation in the text: Pathak, 2023; Kumar & Singh, 2023; Mehra et al., 2024 with in parenthesis. As for example, …………………. (Reddy, 2019; Raju & Rawat, 2020; Kumar & Verma, 2023, Ranjan et al., 2025; URL).

Figures/illustrations should be scanned in 600 dpi JPEG format with scale. Political map of the country/area map showing international boundary must be with reference/source. Communis Biologica prefers map made in Coral draw. Please mention name of the editing tools and softwares employed.

Photographs should be in good quality and in JPEG, TIFF and PNG only. Photographs in PDF and MS Word are not acceptable.

Reference style is dependents on author’s choice, authors (s) are free to choose any one of the format from MLA, APA, Chicago, Havard and Vancouver as per convenience but reference style should be uniform in the manuscript.

Jurisdiction. Disputes/ differences / controversies concerning subject matter, published material, submitted articles, etc. will be at courts/tribunals located in Dehradun city only.

Copyright of Communis Biologica is applied to published articles.  The journals never claim rights to the underlying research. Author/institution/ethnic group will continue to retain patent and other intellectual property rights pertaining to the research. Further, authors are free to share research data.   

Submission Checklist

1.     Corresponding author is registered to https://communisbiologica.com/index.php/home

2.     Manuscript has not been published/submitted for consideration to another journal or Communis Biologica.

3.     Manuscript is prepared any of the following software: Microsoft Word, Rich Text Format, Libre office, OpenOffice, Office 365.

4.     DOI and URL (if available) is given in reference section. 

5.     Standard practices of italics, Capital letters, well established abbreviations, etc. are followed in the manuscripts. The number of figures and tables are citied with in parenthesis in text (fig. 1; table 4) and full form of abbreviation are provided. 

6.     Name of three potential referees/reviewer with name, designation, affiliation(s) and e-mail addresses are provided in a separate page at the end of manuscript.
